Join host Rita Soledad Fernández-Paulino, a Queer Mexican-American money & self-care coach, as they teach you how to engage in D.I.V.E.R.S.E. self-care so you can stay in the wealth-building cycle.
Dinero self-care isn’t just about tracking your spending or saving for the future. It’s about developing a relationship with your money that honors your wellness, your nervous system, and your long-term goals. But if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed just thinking about your finances, you’re not alone—and there’s a reason for that.
In this blog post, based on a recent episode of the Wealth Para Todos Podcast, I break down:
Let’s dive in.
Dinero self-care is any action that supports smart financial decisions and encourages long-term financial security. That could look like checking your account balances once a week, reviewing your spending, opening a high-yield savings account, or finally understanding how your credit score works.
It’s a term I use intentionally, because money self-care isn’t just about budgeting—it’s about building wealth con tiempo, with gentleness, intention, and awareness.
If dinero self-care feels overwhelming, there’s a reason. Actually, there are many reasons:
These emotional and systemic barriers don’t mean you’re bad with money. They mean you’re human in a society that hasn’t given you the tools—or the support—you deserve.
In Wealth Para Todos Academy, we use a 10-stage framework to help clients identify where they are and what actions to take next. Here’s a simplified version:
Every action that helps you move to the next stage is a form of dinero self-care.
Examples of dinero self-care based on your stage of financial security might include:
The key? Awareness + action. Even small steps count.
Start with just 15 minutes once a week. Pick a check-in day (mine is Friday!) and create a vibe: music, tea, a cozy space.
During your check-in:
You’re not supposed to do this alone. Ask a loved one to check in with you. Or join Wealth Para Todos Academy, where we check in with our finances every Wednesday. You can also apply to work with me 1:1 for personalized guidance.
Dinero self-care is powerful, and it’s possible.
Even if you’ve avoided money in the past.
Even if you feel behind.
Even if it feels like too much.
Start with one small step this week. Open a high-yield savings account. Review your credit card statement. Track your expenses for 3 days.
Weekly dinero self-care doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
Financial security is built con tiempo, one step at a time.
And your wellness? It’s essential to the collective.
